thoroughly track the companies with whom we do business.
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative, Inc.
(SMECO) has a supplier diversity program that will help bridge the gap for diverse owned companies.
Diverse Suppliers may be small or large businesses and are defined:
- Minority-owned business
- Woman-owned business
- Service Related Disabled Veteran-owned business
- Not-for-profit entities organized to promote the interests of physically or mentally disabled individuals.
- Veteran owned business
- LGTBQ owned business
Additional requirements are that the company is owned and operated by one or more U.S. citizens meeting the
above criteria and have not less than 51% in ownership or shares of stock.
We also require third party certification for all diverse owned companies.
What You Need Before Registering
- Legal Company Name
- Doing Business as (DBA) Information
- Tax ID or Equivalent for Country if not US Based
- Primary & Secondary NAICS Codes
- 5 Years of Gross Receipts Information
- IF Certified Diverse - A Copy of Your Certification(s) to Upload
